Humptulips
Once a logging center and is now an area of small ranches on the Humptulips River north of Aberdeen. The name is from the Quinault word Ho-to-la-bixh, meaning “hard to pole.” The phrase relates to the Humptulips River, on which Native Americans used to propel their canoes with poles. Here’s a short article that explains more about the name and location and its connection to salmon.
